Compensation Range: $77,216.00 - $ (individual salaries determined within this range based on market data, education, experience, and internal equity considerations).
Contributes to the scientific analysis of data generated by multiple research projects by organizing, overseeing, and directing staff. Initiates, monitors, and evaluates progress and scientific value of projects and data. Oversees quality control of raw data and assists researchers in analyzing sequencing data from generation to publication, integrating disparate datasets into regulatory frameworks, and developing workflows for on‑premises and cloud processing.
Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders within and outside the University. Assists in creating and disseminating education materials related to highly technical research.
- Analyzes high‑throughput sequencing data generated on instruments, including single‑cell and spatial RNA‑seq data from experimental approaches.
- Completes secondary analyses of processed data, including expression profiling, pathway enrichment analysis, and functional annotation, using Linux/Unix commands, programming languages, and open‑source software tools.
- Completes development in conjunction with WCI and the Center of Integrated Research Computing for deployment of standard and novel workflows within cloud infrastructure.
- Participates in experimental design and analysis of sequencing projects, applying and developing novel analytical methods to meet each project’s research goals, managing project milestones, and integrating multiple genomic data types.
- Provides technical training, supervision, and consultation to the GRC Bioinformatics team in conjunction with the Bioinformatic Staff Scientist.
- Provides bioinformatics support and training to research groups, including use of software for analysis of genomic data, assistance in data interpretation, and recommendations of best practices for sequencing experiments.
- Responsible for storage and maintenance of raw data, including microarray and high‑throughput sequencing datasets.

- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience required;
Master’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or other cloud platforms for development and deployment required.
- Experience with statistical programming and data visualization using R/Bioconductor and UNIX/Linux programming required.
- Experience with interface, networking, and data warehousing technologies, as well as design of relational database technologies and performance tuning required.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results.
- Ability to create novel techniques, programs, and systems by innovation or by synthesizing features from other systems or programs at all phases of development.
- Ability to create a cascade of interrelated experiments, programs, or systems that build on one another in scientific succession.
- Web interface, design, and development experience in JavaScript, Python/Flask or related frameworks, including source control tools such as Git.
- Competency with Python, Java, Perl, C++, and cloud computing.
- Knowledge of basic statistics, linear model building, principal component analysis, and factor analysis.
