Job OverviewFull‑time Field Technician, entry level, based out of the Rochester laboratory. The role involves managing sampling events to obtain ground water, surface water, soils, and other environmental samples for laboratory analysis under Level D safety requirements.
ResponsibilitiesThe main focus of the field team is to:
- Plan and execute sampling events for groundwater, surface water, soils, and other environmental media.
- Use site‑specific sampling protocols and sampling equipment.
- Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with NYSDEC, USEPA, or local County Agency mandates.
- Document all sampling activities and maintain accurate field records.
- Assist in ground water remediation system assessments and storm water management initiatives.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure samples are properly handled and analyzed.
The technician will receive supervised training in sampling methods, field analytical techniques, OSHA safety regulations, rock and hydrology concepts, and project planning.
Candidate Requirements- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong desire to work outdoors daily and adapt to changing conditions.
- Ability to think quickly and solve problems on the job.
- Valid driver’s license that is insurable with no points.
- Pass a drug screening test.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel overnight within NYS approximately three weeks per quarter (travel expenses paid by ALS).
