Schedule: Sa‑Sun 7 am‑3 pm
Salary: $19.00/hr.
Under general supervision, ensure the safety and security of employees, clients and visitors to the Agency. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma‑informed care environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required.
- Patrol assigned area to ensure protection of clients, visitors, property and equipment.
- Control and monitor access ingress and egress out of assigned site and monitor burglar and fire alarm systems as required.
- Manage program parking location, alerting unauthorized use and working with towing contract agencies.
- Examine doors, windows and gates to ensure security; use agency keys to open and close buildings; monitor closed buildings for unauthorized people and/or suspicious activities.
- Inform and warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required in accordance with department standards.
- Remain alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approach suspicious persons and/or notify police as appropriate; may confront and detain violators, as required, until police arrive.
- Provide backup to the receptionist, including directing incoming calls to appropriate people and acknowledging and welcoming all in the reception area.
- Participate in staff and department meetings as required.
- Maintain up‑to‑date professional knowledge through reading, workshops and conferences.
- Show awareness of and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan, including supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community‑Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse.
- Participate in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings.
- Actively pursue development of professional competencies related to job performance through reading, supervision, in‑service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Credentials: NY State Security Guard Registration required. Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard.
