Responsibilities:
Operates a Public Safety Department Communications Center to provide for the protection of University property, University students, visitors, patients and personnel and their property.
About the Role:
The Communication Center at the U.R. Department of Public Safety is looking for skilled dispatchers to boost our emergency response and monitoring efforts. If you're ready to make a difference and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you!
What You'll Do:
- Answer calls from University officers, staff, students and the public
- Use dispatch software and manage alarm/surveillance systems
- Coordinate communication between University Officers and local law enforcement
- Monitor CCTV cameras and handle fire/burglary alarms
Who We're Looking For:
- Someone who excels in high-pressure situations and is great at multitasking
- A person with strong critical thinking skills and a passion for helping others
- Prior experience with dispatch systems is a plus- ex:
CAD - Ability to stay calm and composed during emergencies
What You Need:
- High School Diploma
- Valid NYS Driver's License
- Preferred experience in Dispatching, Emergency Response or First Responder roles
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to make quick decisions and work well in a team
- Fast and accurate keyboard data entry skills
Schedule:
- Flexible hours needed due to 24/7 operations - Dispatchers must maintain flexible schedules to accommodate operational requirements.
- Flexibility to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
