Title:

Maintenance Mechanic III

• Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus six (6) months of paid full-time or its part‑time equivalent work experience in one (1) or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades; or,
• Graduation from a technical high school or trade school with a major in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades.

NOTE:

Additional experience may be substituted for the high school diploma on a year‑for‑year basis.

• Good knowledge of common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of construction, mechanical and facility maintenance trades;
• Ability to work from plans, specifications, drawings and rough sketches;
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
• Ability to work with others;
• Good hand and eye coordination.

• Serve as a General Handyman performing a variety of semi‑skilled duties and assists a skilled worker in the trade of plumbing;
• Operates vehicles, powered or motorized equipment;
• Work with other Trades/Groups as assigned;
• Helps to install and repair general plumbing equipment (sinks, toilets, eyewash, showers, lift stations);
• Assist in metal and carpentry fabrication, repairs and re‑finishing;
• Assist in cleaning and repairing mechanical equipment (pipe lines, valves and traps);
• Assist with repairs to municipal water and/or sewage systems and lift stations;
• Assist in performing general grounds maintenance work (grading and seeding, mowing, and snow and ice removal);
• Other duties as assigned.
