Nichols Electric & Plumbing is expanding our residential HVAC division and is seeking an experienced, customer-focused HVAC Service Technician to join our team in Rochester, NY. In this full-time role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing residential HVAC systems while delivering a top-tier customer experience. Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps

Perform seasonal maintenance inspections and tune-ups

Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and airflow issues

Install and service thermostats and HVAC control systems

Provide clear, honest communication with homeowners about system conditions and repair needs

Use company software to complete accurate job documentation

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked company vehicle

Work closely with dispatchers, CSR team, and leadership to ensure seamless service delivery

Represent the company professionally with every customer interaction

Minimum 2 years of residential HVAC service experience (preferred)

EPA Certification (required)

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

Proficiency with gas/electric furnaces, A/C systems, heat pumps, and thermostat systems

Knowledge of electrical systems, refrigerants, and HVAC airflow principles

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality workmanship
