Electrical Apprentice - Low Voltage (Entry Level)

Overview

A large data center construction project is seeking an Entry-Level Electrical/Low Voltage Apprentice. This role is ideal for someone coming from a low-voltage or electrical trade school, or anyone looking to begin a career in structured cabling and electrical pathways. You will work alongside experienced technicians and gain hands‑on training in cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, and data center build‑out operations. This project offers strong long‑term growth and advancement into multiple technical departments.

Responsibilities
  • Low Voltage & Electrical Installation
    • Pull, route, and stage low‑voltage cabling (Cat5/6, fiber, etc.).
    • Assist lead technicians with installing communication and electrical pathways (cable trays, wireway, bus duct, racks, backboards, and equipment).
    • Install devices such as switches and receptacles under supervision.
    • Terminate and punch down 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
    • Install grounding for racks and equipment.
    • Help construct equipment rooms and structured cabling systems.
  • General Apprentice Support
    • Support Tech 2 and lead technicians with daily installation tasks.
    • Transport and organize materials on-site.
    • Work safely with ladders, lifts, and tools.
    • Keep work areas clean and organized.
    • Lift and move materials up to 40 lbs.
Tools & Equipment
  • Cable cutters, snips, cable strippers
  • Hammer drills and compression tools
  • Needle‑nose and channel‑lock pliers
  • Tape measure, torpedo level, drywall saw
  • Hand tools required for basic installation tasks
Required Qualifications
  • Entry‑level skill set OR completion of a low‑voltage/electrical trade program
  • Reliable transportation to the job site
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Must have or be able to obtain an OSHA 10 certification
  • Must own and be proficient with basic hand tools
Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have)
  • Scissor lift certification
  • Any previous cabling, electrical, or construction labor experience
  • Veteran status
  • Telecommunications or low‑voltage trade school training
Work Environment
  • On-site at a large‑scale data center build
  • Required PPE at all times (safety glasses, vest, gloves)
  • Steel‑toe boots required
  • Long‑term project with increasing hours and overtime potential

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract-to-Hire position based out of Barker, NY (or Rochester, NY).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the following benefits may be available:
