Description

Kenworth Northeast has Heavy Duty Truck Technician positions available for experienced and reliable team members. You'll perform and/or assist in the performance of general mechanical duties. Diagnose transmission or clutch failures, differential failures and repair or replace as needed. Join for flexible hours and great benefits.

Kenworth Northeast is an independently owned truck dealership supplying the northeast region with The World's Best® heavy and medium duty trucks and parts. We are looking for experienced and reliable Shop Foreman to join our Rochester, NY team. The Service Foreman exercises direct supervision of Service Technicians. Assists them, when necessary, in diagnosing mechanical difficulties and recommending needed repairs. Assists the Service Advisor in greeting customers, selling service labor, writing repair orders, and estimating the costs of repairs within set guidelines.

Pay rate for this position is $32-36 per hour depending on experience.

This is a 1st shift position. 7:00am - 3:30pm.

How you will make an impact:

Communication, Customer Service, and Sales- 30% of average time spent in a week.
  • Communicate positively with technicians to achieve sales and operational goals through effective communication, training, and mentoring.
  • Works with the Service Manager to set sales and grow profits.
  • Advise the Warranty Manager of all warranties: ensure that all necessary information about warranty and policy claims is obtained and recorded on the repair order; ensure proper recording/storage of warranty parts
  • Works with customers on scheduling work in the shop; assists with opening/closing repair orders; pre-plans part requirements.
  • Inform the Service Manager of all customer complaints so that they may be handled before the vehicle leaves the shop
Management and Operations
-25% of average time in a week
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate service technicians and repairs; control workflow and qualify of work performed.
  • Review all vehicles and equipment repair and maintenance tasks performed by technicians; inspect and conduct road tests upon completion of work, as needed, to ensure the safety and quality of repairs
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean shop area and ensuring that special tools and shop equipment are operating correctly.
  • Promotes safe work habits and reports safety and security concerns to the Service Manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory.
Training and Development-15% of average time spent in the week
  • Recruit, orient, and provide training of technicians to ensure a best-in-class repair facility.
  • Organize programs for staff, including technicians, to enhance their skills and performance; ensure technicians and one's self are up-to-date with current developments in the field.
  • Participates in Training to stay current on warranty, technical issues, and leadership skills.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education degree (GED), and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of experience in a dealership environment, including a proven service background and knowledge of warranties.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to the role.
  • May occasionally be required to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and twist as needed. If needed or required, stand for extended periods; for example, 4-8 hours.
