Compensation Range: $27.59 - $36.03
The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Lays out, plans, and performs all necessary carpenter work, both maintenance and construction, inside and outside, on existing buildings and facilities.
Under general supervision of departmental supervisor or other designated authority.
May guide, direct the work of and train lower classified personnel.
Machines and equipment used: wood working power tools such as planers, saws, drills; carpenter’s hand tools such as hammer, screwdriver, file, square, calipers, and stepladder. Must be capable of reading blueprints.
- Construct, repair, and maintain wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions; perform necessary cabinet work.
- Install metal partitions; install and repair doors and panic bars; repair door checks and possibly locksets.
- Cut and glue formica for cabinet tops; install and repair ceiling tiles; lay floor tiles and linoleum.
- Glaze windows and possibly replace window cords or chains.
- Make concrete forms and wood covers for fields; cut through masonry and occasionally perform minor roof repairs, clean roofs, and roof drains.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding; work on scaffolding.
- Perform service calls, work orders, routine and preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and reconditioning work.
- Keep records and make reports of daily work.
- Comply with safety regulations of the University and of local, state, and federal agencies, as well as departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
- Perform other duties requiring comparable skill and responsibility as directed.
Trade school training and 1-2 years experience as a carpenter; or 4 years apprentice training and 1 year experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
