Construction Laborer
This role supports experienced plumbing and HVAC technicians on commercial construction projects by assisting with material staging, basic installations, and general labor tasks. You will work closely with skilled tradespeople, learn the plumbing and HVAC trades on the job, and build a long-term career as a technician. The position is ideal for individuals with construction experience who are motivated to develop new technical skills and grow within the industry.
Responsibilities- Assist plumbing and HVAC technicians with day-to-day tasks on commercial construction job sites.
- Stage and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for plumbing and HVAC installations.
- Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and correctly to support installation and construction activities.
- Help with installation tasks related to plumbing and HVAC systems under the guidance of skilled technicians.
- Perform general labor duties such as lifting, carrying, and positioning materials and equipment.
- Support the new construction department by completing assigned tasks efficiently and on schedule.
- Follow safety procedures and site rules, including compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on job sites.
- Travel reliably to and from various commercial construction job sites as scheduled.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and drive to grow into a long-term plumbing or HVAC technician role.
- At least 1 year of construction experience with a strong interest in entering the plumbing or HVAC trade.
- Experience performing general labor duties on construction sites.
- Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to use basic power tools safely and effectively.
- Reliability and consistent attendance, including dependable transportation to and from job sites.
- Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 certification if not already held.
- Strong work ethic and motivation to develop into a long-term plumbing or HVAC technician.
- Ability to work effectively on commercial construction projects as part of a team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a construction laborer.
- Exposure to plumbing or HVAC work in a commercial construction setting.
- Familiarity with sheet metal work.
- Interest in developing skills as a plumber or HVAC technician.
- Comfort working with a variety of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions from skilled technicians and supervisors.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development.
- Valid OSHA 10 certification is a plus if already obtained.

You will work on commercial construction job sites across the Rochester area. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with opportunities for additional hours as project needs arise. The environment is hands-on and field-based, involving active work with hand tools, power tools, and materials related to plumbing, HVAC, and general construction. You will collaborate closely with skilled technicians and other crew members in a structured, safety-focused setting that emphasizes adherence to OSHA standards and safe work practices.
JobType & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
