Commercial HVAC Installer
The Commercial HVAC Installer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial environments such as offices, retail stores, and other business facilities. This role works with blueprints and schematics to install new systems and to troubleshoot, service, and maintain existing HVAC units to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
Responsibilities
- Install commercial HVAC systems in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
- Regularly inspect and test HVAC systems to verify proper operation and identify potential issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in HVAC systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control-related problems.
- Repair or replace faulty components in HVAC systems, such as motors, compressors, fans, electrical parts, and controls.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance to maintain optimal performance and extend equipment life.
- Verify that HVAC systems operate in an energy-efficient manner and comply with applicable safety and environmental standards.
- Perform HVAC servicing, including start-up, shutdown, and seasonal maintenance on commercial and residential equipment as needed.
- Use electrical and mechanical troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes of system failures.
- Work with boilers and related heating equipment as needed for installation, service, and maintenance.
- Document work performed, including parts used, services completed, and system conditions.
- Communicate clearly with team members and site contacts regarding work status, findings, and any recommended follow-up.
- Drive to job sites within the local service area and manage tools, equipment, and materials in a safe and organized manner.
- Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures at all times, including proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
Essential Skills
- 1–5 years of experience in HVAC installation in commercial or residential settings.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC servicing, including installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC systems, including electrical and mechanical components.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of boilers and related heating systems.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Understanding of safety and environmental standards related to HVAC systems.
- Ability to use power tools and standard HVAC tools safely and effectively.

- Experience with both commercial and residential HVAC installation and service.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.

- Willingness to participate in additional trainings and schooling to advance technical skills.
- Ability to manage on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability, with the ability to handle the freedom and expectations of field work.
