Commercial HVAC Service Technician
The Commercial HVAC Service Technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial environments such as offices, retail stores, and other business facilities. This role works directly with blueprints and schematics to troubleshoot and service existing HVAC units, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems in offices, retail stores, and other business establishments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve HVAC issues.
- Regularly inspect and test HVAC systems to verify proper operation and identify potential problems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in HVAC systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues.
- Repair or replace faulty parts and components in HVAC systems to restore safe and efficient operation.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend system lifespan.
- Verify that HVAC systems operate with energy efficiency in mind and comply with applicable safety and environmental standards.
- Document work performed, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and customers about findings, recommended repairs, and maintenance needs.
- Travel independently to job sites within the assigned service area and manage time effectively to complete scheduled work.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24-hour service coverage during assigned weeks.
- 1–5 years of experience in HVAC service, in either commercial or residential settings.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC servicing, including installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing HVAC system issues, including electrical and mechanical problems.
- Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to maintain optimal operation.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- EPA certification.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems related to HVAC equipment.
- Experience with boilers and related HVAC components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Capability to work independently in the field and manage multiple service calls within a defined territory.
