About the Organization: CP Rochester and Happiness House are private nonprofit health, educational, residential and human service organizations that have been serving communities in the Finger Lakes Region since 1969 and the Greater Rochester Area since 1946. Job Title: Recreation Specialist and/or Lifeguard – Part Time

Location: CP Rochester – Monroe County, NY

Hourly Salary:

• Recreation Specialist: $16.00
• Certified Lifeguard: $16.50

Signing Bonus: The position is eligible for a $250 signing bonus paid as follows: 50% ($125.00) in the pay period following the 6‑month anniversary of your employment, and 50% ($125.00) in the pay period following the one‑year anniversary of your employment.

Hours of Employment:
Part‑Time

• Swim Program – CP Rochester Winton Road Location, Wednesdays and Thursdays 4:45‑7:45 pm
• Bowling – Sunset Lanes, Chili, Tuesday evenings 5‑6 pm
• Pickleball – Dinkers, East Rochester, Monday evenings 5‑6 pm
• Golf (Indoors) – Eagle Vale, Fairport, Wednesday evenings 5‑6 pm

Summary/Objective: This position ensures all recreation services provided by this agency are individually focused, promote independence, productivity, and choice. The Recreation Specialist will also ensure that these services are integrated into the community, cost‑effective, and of high quality as rated by the individuals and funders, and will be responsible for water safety and supervision of consumers, both children and adults, and staff during swim sessions.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Higher education degree in recreation or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
• Experience providing recreational services to individuals of all ages and abilities.
• Red Cross or equivalent Advanced Lifesaving or Lifeguarding certification required.
• Red Cross or equivalent First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and organize the daily operations of the department or program.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in planning, implementing and evaluating programs with individuals, customers, and employees.
• Demonstrated tolerance for stressful interactions and situations.
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office software, Electronic Health Record programs and other computer programs that are pertinent.
• Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and ability to travel in the Rochester area.
