Safe Care Home Visitor

Cayuga Centers is hiring immediately for a Safe Care Home Visitor. This is a temporary to possibly permanent position. Earn: $25.00/hour.

Location:

Cayuga Centers is looking for a Safe Care Home Visitor who is passionate about supporting families. Being a parent to an infant or young child can be challenging. Using an evidence-based and structured approach to skill building, you can serve as an agent of change that puts families on a positive path to resiliency.

About the Program and Safe Care Home Visitor Position:

Our Safe Care program serves families with children ages 0-8. We serve by offering a model-focused community-based intervention, and this makes a difference because we teach, model and support families in making real time changes. The role of the Safe Care Home Visitor is incredibly important and rewarding.

How You Get to Use Your Skills as a Safe Care Home Visitor …
  • Actively participate as part of a team of service providers with the goal of keeping families together
  • Educate parents or caregivers following the Safe Care Program curriculum
  • Model skills surrounding parent-infant/child interaction, how to address a variety of health concerns, maintaining appropriate supervision and childproofing the home
  • Assess parents or caregivers utilizing Safe Care skills, and provide specific positive and corrective feedback
  • Demonstrate an inclusive and accepting practice both in the office and in the field to support a diverse and accepting culture
Required

Experience of a Safe Care Home Visitor:
  • Associate's degree in a related field with experience working from a strengths-based perspective with families
  • Ability and willingness to work with families in an "in-home" context
  • Willingness to run parenting groups
  • Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of the child welfare system
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to appreciate and encourage diversity and understand the concept of cultural trauma as it applies to individual and family functioning
Physical Requirements of a Safe Care Home Visitor:
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Walking up and down stairs inside/outside
  • Must have the ability to type documentation and maintain proper files.
  • Time on your feet for up to several hours a day
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
Schedule for a Safe Care Home Visitor:

Looking for an applicant who is willing to work with parents/families at a time that suits the family's needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position.
