Summer recreation employment opportunities

Recreation assistant/seasonal: $17.02/hour

Responsible for assisting recreation staff in conducting daily recreation programs, helps maintain order and compliance with established recreation rules and regulations, helps stock supplies and equipment.  Related work is performed as required.

Minimum qualifications:

high school diploma or equivalent or one (1) year of experience in the city of rochester americorps program

Senior recreation assistant/seasonal: $18.25/hour

Responsible for assisting with and leading a variety of recreation and youth development activities at playgrounds, recreation centers, neighborhood facilities or gymnasiums.  Supervision may be exercised over summer recreation staff.  Related work is performed as required.

Minimum qualifications:

high school diploma or equivalent or
* one (1) year of experience in the city of rochester americorps program

And
* one (1) year of part-time or full-time experience working in recreation programs, camp, school or other youth (17 years and under) related work (or field).

* experience can be acquired concurrently

Day camp supervisor/seasonal: $19.47/hour

Responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of daily recreational activities for the city of rochester's summer kid's club program. Supervision may be exercised over seasonal or part-time youth workers and recreation assistants.  Direct supervision is received from high level recreation personnel.  Related work is performed as required.

Minimum qualifications:

high school diploma or equivalent and 21 years of age, plus

One (1) year of experience as a new york state certified teacher or classroom aide; or

* six (6) months of administrative or supervisory experience in a day care program or an educational or recreation program for youth and
* six (6) months of activities programming experience in a day care program or an educational or recreation program for youth.

* experience can be acquired concurrently

Special requirement:

Possession of american red cross first aid and cpr certification or equivalent within two (2) weeks of appointment and for the duration of employment in this title
