Title:

Bus Driver

• Possession of a valid New York State driver's license
• Must meet all State and Federal pre-employment requirements of the position prior to employment, including the appropriate driver's license for the vehicle being operated. It is the jurisdiction's responsibility for ensuring employees possess valid licenses appropriate to the type of vehicle(s) being operated.

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience working with Pre‑K‑12th grade students

• Drive a school bus on a regular schedule on an assigned route or on special occasions
• Assist disabled students in boarding and exiting the bus by operating a hydraulic lift as necessary
• Check the operating condition of a school bus before starting a regular or special trip
• Report any mechanical defects of the bus to the supervisor
• Instruct or inform students about safety practices when entering and exiting the bus and while in transit
• Maintain orderly conduct of students on the bus
• Clean and service the assigned vehicle daily
• Perform a post‑trip inspection of the vehicle after every route
