Compensation: $28.81 per hour
Schedule: Monday, Thursday, Friday 1:00 PM–9:00 PM;
Saturday & Sunday 11:00 AM–7:00 PM;
Tuesday & Wednesday Off
At RTS, Dispatchers play a vital role in keeping our community moving safely and efficiently by coordinating operators, responding to real-time service needs, and supporting reliable transit operations.
About the RoleThis safety-sensitive, first-line supervisory position oversees dispatch operations, radio control, and Transit Center activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transit service.
What You'll Do- Assign operators and vehicles and manage Extra Board coverage.
- Monitor attendance, absences, schedules, and operator work assignments.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure vehicle availability.
- Operate CAD/AVL, radio control, and dispatch systems.
- Respond to delays, breakdowns, accidents, emergencies, and weather events.
- Coordinate with Road Supervisors, Transit Center staff, police, and emergency responders.
- Monitor security systems, alarms, cameras, and Transit Center operations.
- Maintain operational records, logs, reports, and performance documentation.
- Support compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Make Transit Center announcements and perform gate assignments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least two years of transit-related experience.
- Supervisory experience or equivalent training.
- Strong communication, computer, organizational, and math skills.
- Knowledge of transit routes and schedules.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
Office and Transit Center environment requiring prolonged sitting, computer use, occasional standing and walking, and the ability to respond to operational events. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
