As a Driver
, you will play an essential role in supporting our mission by safely transporting individuals while providing exceptional customer service and treating every passenger with dignity and respect. More than just driving, you will help ensure those we serve have access to the programs, services, and opportunities that enhance their independence and quality of life.
Part-Time, 25 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 3pm - 8pm; occasional weekend hours)
Pay Rate$16.50 per hour
EssentialJob Duties
- Serve as a driver for the agencies, which includes, but is not limited to pick-ups, deliveries, transportation of clients, and other designated errands.
- Conduct transportation duties safely with full compliance to NYS traffic regulations and with specific emphasis on seat belt regulations and no standing in the aisle.
- Responsible for maintenance of agency vehicle(s) by regularly checking tires, battery, oil fluid levels, service check-ups, alignments, brakes, etc.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the vehicle's interior and exterior.
- Pick up and drop off consumers at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.
- Read maps and/or GPS and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
- Notify supervisors of any accidents or incidents and are responsible for reporting any perceived defects and/or mechanical problems to the IDD Director immediately.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and have an excellent driving record.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is highly desired.
- Familiarity with the city of Rochester geographical and street locations.
- Demonstrated ability to relate and interact with staff and consumers of diverse cultural, racial, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Must be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

- The employee is frequently required to walk distances; use hands and fingers to handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach.
- Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 65 pounds of force occasionally.
- Must be able to travel as needed; frequently getting in/out of vehicle and be able to handle various driving weather conditions.
- Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time; including close vision and ability to adjust/focus various distances.
- Work is both indoors and outdoors and may be exposure to various weather conditions.
