Overview
The position affords a graduate or undergraduate student who is interested in pursuing a career in the archival field the opportunity to gain practical experience through working in the Pettus Archives.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in arrangement, description, and preservation of the Archives collections.
- Assist Archives Staff with answering reference questions and researchers.
- Work on digitization projects.
- Assist Archives Staff with the audio-visual collection.
- Carry out preservation techniques.
- Retrieve and re-shelve material.
- Assist with the creation and installation of exhibits.
- Other duties as assigned.
The preferred student should be interested in pursuing a career in the archival field or have an interest in or appreciation of history and the preservation of historical material.
Preferred SkillsThe student should possess good organizational and communication skills. The student should also be responsible and willing to abide by archival policies and procedures relating to work with fragile and historic papers, material, and artifacts.
