Position Summary:

The Citizen Services Coordinator assists the Catawba Nation’s Citizens Services Division by supporting Catawba Citizens through education, career development, citizen benefits, enrollment services and cultural services. This role contributes to the success of programs including scholarships, workforce development, business support, distribution of benefits, cultural programs, and enrollment by helping individuals build pathways toward long-term personal and economic growth within the community.

This position reports to the Citizen Empowerment Manager and is subject to the CIN Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.

Essential Functions

An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Assist the Citizen Empowerment Department with the following tasks:
    • Workforce Development and other partner programs
    • Operations and record-keeping
    • Assist with providing career coaching and workforce development support to individuals through resume writing, job search assistance, and mock interview preparation
    • Conducting check-ins, monitoring progress and providing additional assistance to Tribal entrepreneurs
    • Research grants, gather materials, and complete forms necessary for grant applications
    • Assist with responses to questions and inquiries
    • Maintain department files as set forth by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)
    • Recommend changes in departmental procedures to facilitate workflow based on knowledge of department and experience
    • Identify scholarship opportunities and programs for tribal students
    • Assist with administering scholarship awards, including issuing award letters, check requests, and tracking scholarship disbursements
    • Advise tribal students in the development of competitive applications, essays, resumes, interview techniques, and other relevant skillsets
  • Assist the Citizen Benefits Department with the following tasks:
    • Provide information, guidance, and documentation on benefits, policies, procedures, and eligibility
    • Maintain records, organize change forms, and support tasks within the benefits portal
    • Deliver quality customer service and assist in resolving citizen concerns or administrative matters
  • Assist the Enrollment Department with the following tasks:
    • Provide information on enrollment requirements, policies and procedures
    • Process enrollment packets, track incomplete applications, and maintain the appeal book
    • Scan documents, update databases, and maintain protected files
  • Assist the Cultural Services Department with the following tasks:
    • Receiving public programming requests and scheduling
    • Preparing for various events and scheduled Cultural Classes
    • Interact with Cultural Center visitors and provide a welcoming and educational experience
  • General tasks:
    • Independently handle special events which may require some evening and/or weekend hours
    • Collaborate with Tribal Government Departments and participate in trainings, workshops, and meetings as assigned
    • Perform other duties as assigned
