Substitute Teacher - Rock Hill Schools

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. In this role, you will provide consistent and engaging instruction across various classrooms within our school district, ensuring a seamless learning experience for students in the absence of their regular teachers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of classroom dynamics, curriculum implementation, and behavior management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher or adapt to the needs of the class when necessary.

  • Engage students in age-appropriate activities that promote literacy, math skills, and overall childhood development.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to school staff as required.
  • Ensure adherence to school policies, mandated reporting laws, and safety procedures.
  • Support diverse learners, including students with special needs or those requiring individualized instruction such as children with autism.
  • Assist with classroom routines, including attendance, transitions, and basic childcare duties.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to promote a collaborative educational environment.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times during your assignment.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional strategies across early childhood education, literacy, math, and special education.
  • Experience working with children in various settings such as preschool, private schools, or classrooms with diverse needs.
  • Proficiency in classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.
  • Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and school policy compliance.
  • Ability to adapt instructional approaches for students with autism or other special needs.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of Montessori methods or other specialized educational philosophies is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in tutoring or individualized instruction to support student achievement.
  • Understanding of childhood development principles relevant to early childhood education settings.
  • Ability to manage classroom routines efficiently while fostering an inclusive environment that respects diversity.
