We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our dynamic chemical manufacturing team. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining chemical production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting safe chemical operations across the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Process Design & Optimization – Develop, evaluate, and improve chemical manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Data Analysis – Collect and analyze process data using statistical tools to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Production Support – Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process‑related issues, minimize downtime, and ensure consistent product quality.
- Documentation – Create and maintain process documentation including SOPs, work instructions, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and facility diagrams.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work closely with R&D, quality, EHS, maintenance, and supply chain teams to support new product introductions, scale‑up activities, and process changes.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure all chemical processes comply with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations. Champion a culture of safety throughout the facility. Actively participate in and promote the facility's Process Safety Management (PSM) program. Conduct and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs). Support Management of Change (MOC) processes for all process modifications.
- Continuous Improvement – Lead and participate in Lean Six Sigma initiatives, Kaizen events, and waste reduction projects to drive operational excellence.
- Troubleshooting – Investigate and resolve process deviations, chemical non‑conformances, yield losses, and quality issues using structured problem‑solving methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., Chemistry, Process or Industrial Engineering).
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in a process engineering role within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in a chemical facility – preferred.
- Familiarity with P&t and review.
- Knowledge of PHA, FMEA and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems (e.g., Oracle) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to chemical manufacturing.
Primarily chemical plant/manufacturing floor environment. Regular exposure to chemical processing areas requiring strict adherence to PPE protocols (safety glasses, gloves, chemical‑resistant clothing, etc.). May require occasional travel to other facilities, supplier sites, or customer locations.
