Job Summary
The Advanced Clearances Senior Principal Engineer (SPE) is a senior technical leader and subject matter expert responsible for setting strategic direction, shaping the organization’s technical vision, and driving innovation across multiple projects and domains. This role focuses on engineering excellence, supports complex projects, and mentors the next generation of engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a senior technical authority across Advanced Clearances, defining and enforcing technical standards and making final determinations on technical tradeoffs and risk acceptance.
- Provide end‑to‑end technical leadership for highly complex engineering projects and programs, ensuring sound architecture, technical rigor, safety, quality, and lifecycle risk closure.
- Own critical projects and technical deliverables supporting the success of Advanced Clearances across industrial and aero‑derivative gas turbine systems and power plants.
- Act as a primary technical resource and subject matter expert, guiding project teams, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
- Review and approve engineering documentation, deliverables, deviations, and waivers to ensure compliance with internal requirements, external regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate directly with the Advanced Clearances Chief Engineer to review designs, align strategy, and provide technical direction.
- Drive problem resolution across multiple disciplines, identifying technical risks and mitigations at the system level.
- Identify innovation opportunities by monitoring relevant technologies, regulations, competitors, and industry trends; support external engagement through conferences, academic partnerships, and technical forums.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, internal teams, and external entities to resolve complex technical issues and support successful project execution.
- Leverage data and AI/ML tools to accelerate design space exploration, automate analysis, and improve defect detection and root‑cause resolution.
- Mentor and coach Principal and developing engineers to strengthen technical judgment, knowledge sharing, and engineering capability.
- Lead the development of technical standards, best practices, design practices, and process improvements while fostering a culture of curiosity, continuous improvement, and inclusion.
- Major experience in Engineering/Technology & Services Engineering; comparable to a Master’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Demonstrated expertise in the relevant technical subject area.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 10 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver results.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Clear communication and solid leadership on challenging technical issues.
- Experience interfacing with customers, conferences, and user groups.
- Customer‑focused with concise written and oral communications at the appropriate level.
- Success working in a complex cross‑functional global environment.
- Servant leadership mindset.

This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information from the U.S. Government.
