The Stormwater Permitting Engineering Associate I supports the NPDES stormwater program and state stormwater management programs within the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services' Bureau of Water. The role involves reviewing engineering plans and permit applications for construction and industrial stormwater discharges, issuing permits, and providing technical assistance to municipalities and the regulated community. Under direct supervision, you will help protect water quality, reduce flooding risks, and support environmental compliance across multiple stormwater permitting programs.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering that qualifies applicant to become registered as a Level A Professional Engineer in South Carolina
- Basic knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and sedimentology
- Experience evaluating and reviewing engineering site reports, specifications, and drawings
- Certified construction site inspector and certified plan reviewer or ability to obtain both certifications within one year of employment
- Valid driver's license and ability to climb steep slopes and traverse uneven terrain for site visits
