Information Security Specialist
The Information Security Specialist will be responsible for the security, installation, and maintenance of Student Affairs computer information systems. The role supports the day-to-day operation of these systems, provides network support and security services, and participates in the installation and maintenance of new and existing software applications within Student Affairs. The Specialist also supports Active Directory security groups and other specialized applications, and consults with users, staff, and the HIPAA Compliance Officer to address system security, access, and operational issues.
Responsibilities- Maintain Active Directory user objects, computer objects, OUs, policies, and authentication technologies such as ADFS, SAML, SSO, and OAuth.
- Review and interpret identity, access, and audit logs in Microsoft Active Directory to support investigations, access reviews, and policy validation.
- Monitor division software and application processes to ensure compliance with the TRB Technology Review Board.
- Assist with oversight of Information Systems related to HIPAA, FERPA, and other federal and state compliance requirements.
- Respond to user support and awareness inquiries, including phishing reports and security training participation.
- Collaborate with DoIT and other teams to align security architecture, shared service boundaries, and tool access.
- Perform additional security functions as assigned by the HIPAA and Security Compliance Officer.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least one year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- High proficiency in computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Relevant security certifications preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving, ethical, professional, and customer‑service skills.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and adapt to changing needs.
