Onsite/Local Network Engineer/Admin (CompTIA/Cisco/Microsoft certified/active) switches/WAP, SD‑WAN, PKI, Windows/iOS/mobile, L1 experience.

Location:

Cayce, SC (DPH) – Duration: 12 months.

Work location:

Fully onsite. Candidate must be a current resident within the Eastern Time Zone and be willing to relocate to SC prior to their start at their own expense.

Travel:
Potential for travel within the State of South Carolina to DPH Field Offices. A valid driver’s license is required. A state vehicle will be provided for travel and the state will cover round‑trip travel expenses associated with mileage to and from sites, with 400 Otarre Pkwy, Cayce, SC 29033, being the departure location if a state vehicle is not available.

Skills (Rank in Order of Importance)
  • 3+ Years of Experience with Enterprise Network Infrastructure and LAN Administration
  • 3+ Years of Experience with Installing, Configuring, and Troubleshooting switches and wireless access points
  • 3+ Years of Experience with SD‑WAN, PKI, and secure authentication services
  • 3+ Years of Experience with Troubleshooting network connectivity on Windows and mobile devices
  • 3+ Years of Experience with creating, reading, and maintaining network documentation and diagrams
Preferred Skills (Rank in Order of Importance)
  • Any current/previously held network or related certification by an industry leader such as CompTIA, Cisco, or Microsoft. (Please indicate whether certificate is active or inactive on resume)
  • Cisco Networking Academy or similar bootcamp/training
Additional Skills
  • Ability to perform onsite physical network work, including lifting 40 lbs and working on ladders
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel statewide to remote sites with a State or Personal Vehicle
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and nontechnical staff
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Required Education

Associate’s Degree in a relevant field of work or high school diploma with equivalent work experience.

None. Preference may be given to certified applicants based on overall experience, education, and work history.

Responsibilities

The network administrators will coordinate daily/weekly assignments for the deployment, operational support, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of the agency’s critical enterprise architecture under the guidance of the assigned Network Operations Center Manager. They will work with Network, Security, and other IT professional groups and non‑IT staff to assist with problem resolution, mitigation of issues, and technical solutions. They will ensure assignments are completed accurately and on time, and regularly provide progress, task, and deliverables status updates to the assigned project manager.

Specific duties and responsibilities include: support enterprise network and identity initiatives including SD‑WAN deployment, PKI lifecycle management, and secure authentication services; monitor, identify, and remediate issues with agency enterprise network and identity services; support network connectivity and authentication services on Windows‑based systems; support connectivity and secure access on mobile devices (e.g., Apple devices); manage the network and identity infrastructure lifecycle at all stages;

create and maintain network documentation; assist with deployment, configuration, and support of SD‑WAN, PKI, and secure authentication solutions; perform enterprise network deployments, installations, and upgrades; monitor agency trouble ticket system and complete assigned network, authentication, and connectivity tickets; serve as the agency’s primary support resource for network and access‑related technical issues; coordinate and assist with testing and validation of network and identity solutions;

adhere to state and agency security and IT policies and standards; work closely with key stakeholder groups; create, maintain, and review/improve upon network and identity documentation; provide updates to project team; and perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
