Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000
Source vendors and purchase indirect material associated with the production of automotive parts. Responsible for identifying & sourcing qualified primary and secondary suppliers. Research and compare prices from various suppliers and make cost effective purchase decisions. Assure that all orders conform to purchasing standard policies and procedures. Establish new parts in the tool crib as needed and maintain required inventory levels.
Manage miscellaneous purchase requisitions. Able to work in an environment with regular interruptions and have a good sense of urgency.
- Minimum Associate Degree in related field and 1 year of purchasing experience or 5+ years purchasing experience.
- Working knowledge of MRP systems.
- Proficient with MS Office, Excel and Word.
- Good attention to detail, organized, clear email and telephone communication skills.
- Source and set-up vendors based on needs.
- Request quotes from suppliers and source alternative suppliers to optimize product quality, customer satisfaction and product cost.
- Develop and maintain contacts with new and existing suppliers.
- Create Purchase Orders in accordance with quality system guidelines as related to ISO/TS 16949.
- Monitor and maintain required inventory levels.
- Maintain outstanding invoices.
- Resolve transportation and receiving issues.
- Manage MRP orders on a weekly basis to include new orders, past due, and expedited.
- Update and maintain automated tool crib requisition system.
- Negotiate and manage vendor stocking programs, service agreements and blanket orders.
- Process automated tool crib requisitions into Purchase Orders.
- Manage miscellaneous Purchase Orders from internal departments.
- Communicate professionally & effectively.
- Lead and/or support projects as needed.
- Create and distribute various reports.
- Manage credit card to include orders, reconciliations, audits and more if necessary.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Materials Manager.
- Uses computer workstation, telephone, copier, scanner, fax and printers.
- Communicates with team members and vendors via phone, email and in-person meetings.
