The Shop Foreman – Framing is responsible for leading and coordinating the Company's framing assembly operations at the designated facility. This role provides hands‑on leadership for daily framing production, including scheduling, labor allocation, workflow, quality, safety, and productivity. The Shop Foreman will lead and develop framing personnel, ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule, and work closely with engineering, sales, purchasing, and project management to support successful project execution.
This position will also assist with general building and facility responsibilities at the assigned location. Reports to the Director of Manufacturing.
- Lead and coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the framing assembly area, including workflow, production priorities, labor allocation, and project schedules.
- Support the transition of framing assembly operations to the new facility and assist with establishing efficient processes, layouts, equipment, and material flow.
- Plan and organize framing assembly activities to meet production requirements and customer delivery expectations.
- Direct, train, coach, and develop framing assembly personnel to promote a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment.
- Review production schedules and allocate labor and resources to maximize productivity and meet project commitments.
- Monitor production performance, labor utilization, project progress, and overall shop efficiency while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with engineering, sales, purchasing, and project management to support the successful execution of framing projects.
- Review drawings, bills of material, work instructions, and other manufacturing documentation to ensure production requirements are understood and followed.
- Identify and implement improvements to framing assembly processes, workflow, tooling, equipment, and work methods.
- Verify product quality and workmanship in accordance with established quality control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and ensure employees follow Company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with equipment, material, and facility needs associated with establishing and maintaining the framing assembly operation.
- Supervise shop personnel and the Framing Coordinator, providing direction, training, and support.
- Oversee packaging, shipping, receiving, and inventory activities to support accurate and timely production.
- Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, sales, and project management to ensure materials are available and identify improvements to shop processes.
- Monitor the general condition and security of the assigned facility and communicate building maintenance, equipment, safety, or operational issues to appropriate leadership.
- Provide hands‑on support with framing assembly and production activities as needed.
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and development to framing assembly personnel.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as directed by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. - Minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing, production, assembly, construction, or a related environment.
- Previous experience leading or supervising production or assembly personnel.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, production workflow, and resource planning.
- Experience with production scheduling, labor allocation, and meeting project deadlines.
