A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Wastewater Treatment Technician at MKS, you will partner with Operations, Maintenance, EH&S, and Production teams to operate, monitor, and maintain the facility's wastewater treatment systems while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. In this role, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
You Will Make an Impact By:Operate, monitor, and adjust wastewater treatment systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation
Collect samples, perform testing, and maintain operating records and reports required for process control and regulatory compliance
Monitor wastewater treatment parameters, identify operational issues, and implement corrective actions as needed
Perform wastewater transfers, chemical additions, sludge handling, and other treatment-related activities
Conduct routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment; coordinate repairs with Maintenance as needed
Support startup, shutdown, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities associated with wastewater treatment systems
Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and company policies and procedures
Support environmental audits, inspections, reporting activities, and incident investigations
Report permit exceedances, equipment failures, spills, safety concerns, or environmental issues promptly
Safely handle treatment chemicals and operate equipment in accordance with established procedures
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and utilize required PPE
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance treatment efficiency, environmental performance, and operational effectiveness
Perform other duties as assigned

South Carolina Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator certification (Class
D) required or ability to obtain appropriate South Carolina certification within a specified period of employmentHigh school diploma or GED
Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment, chemical processing, utilities, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment
Working knowledge of pumps, piping systems, valves, and process equipment
Ability to read and follow operating procedures and environmental requirements
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and recordkeeping skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and maintain accurate records
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and data entry systems
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to obtain and maintain applicable wastewater operator certification
Skills:
Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, preferred
Experience with pH adjustment, metals precipitation, dissolved air flotation (DAF), filtration, or biological treatment systems, preferred
Familiarity with environmental permits, and regulatory compliance requirements, preferred
Forklift certification, preferred
