Veterinary Criticalist‑Catskill Veterinary Services

Rock Hill, United States | Posted on 02/25/2026

Captain the ICU. Mentor the Floor. Design the Future.

Join us now and lead the Critical Care transition into our brand-new facility in 2026!

Catskill Veterinary Services is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Criticalist to join our team. As the primary referral hub for Sullivan County and the Hudson Valley, we handle the trauma, the toxicity, and the complex medical crises that other clinics turn away.

We are looking for a medical leader—someone who wants to practice high‑level Critical Care in a private practice setting that offers the caseload of a tertiary referral center with the agility of a doctor‑owned hospital.

WE ARE PROUDLY VETERINARIAN‑FOUNDED & OWNED. We aren't run by a remote board of investors. We are run by Veterinarians. We make decisions based on medical best practices, not shareholder returns.

THE CRITICALIST’S OPPORTUNITY
  • Highly Competitive Compensation:
Generous Base Salary + Production percentages (with no negative accrual) commensurate with experience and Board status.
  • Top‑of‑the‑Line ICU Resources:
You don’t need to fight for budget approvals here. We are equipped with the advanced monitoring, oxygen support, transfusion medicine capabilities, and stat diagnostics you need to manage the sickest patients.
  • A "Closed" Ecosystem:
You aren't just seeing external referrals. You have a massive internal network of General Practice and Emergency Veterinarians across three locations feeding complex medical cases directly to your ICU service.
  • Future Growth:
We are breaking ground on a brand new, state‑of‑the‑art hospital opening soon in 2026. You will have a direct voice in establishing the workflow and layout of our new Critical Care Unit.

ABOUT CATSKILL VETERINARY SERVICES
  • The Caseload:
We see it all—DKA, septic abdomen, polytrauma, IMHA/ITP, and respiratory distress. We need a specialist to manage these cases long‑term and elevate the standard of care for our hospitalized patients.
  • Advanced Care Focus:
We are committed to saying "yes" to complex cases. Our community relies on us to provide the level of care that usually requires a 2‑hour drive to a university.
  • Collaborative Medicine:
You will work alongside our Surgeons, GPs, and ER doctors. You are the safety net that allows our other departments to push the envelope, knowing you are there to manage the post‑op or post‑arrest recovery.

---

THE SUPPORT YOU DESERVE
  • Licensed & Capable:
You will be supported by a powerhouse team of Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) and experienced assistants. Our team is proficient in RECOVER CPR, CRI calculations, central line maintenance, and blood product administration.
  • A Culture of Learning:
Our ER doctors and technicians are hungry for knowledge. We will meet you with the energy and drive you bring to the table. If you enjoy teaching rounds or mentoring younger vets on fluid therapy and resuscitation, you will find an eager audience here.

---

LIFE IN THE HUDSON VALLEY
  • Ideally Located:
We are a short, scenic drive to NYC. You can enjoy the city culture on your days off, but live in an area with a lower cost of living, more land, and less traffic.
  • The Good Life:
The Hudson Valley is the food and drink capital of New York State. Enjoy farm‑to‑table dining, world‑class wineries, and a vibrant art scene (Storm King, Dia: Beacon, Bethel Woods).
  • Outdoor Access:
Decompress after a shift by hiking Minnewaska, kayaking the Hudson or Delaware Rivers, or skiing in the winter.

---

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • NYS License:
Current license (or ability to obtain one).
  • Leadership: A desire to serve as a clinical leader for the Emergency Department, helping to refine protocols and elevate the quality of medicine.
  • Collaboration:

A specialist who views the referring GP/ER vets as partners. We value a collaborative approach to case management.

---

THE BENEFITS PACKAGE
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO):
We believe in time off to recharge.
  • Flexible Scheduling:
We work with you to create a schedule that balances clinical floor time with administrative/off‑floor time.
  • Continuing Education (CE):
Annual CE allowance and paid days off.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance.
  • Professional Fees Paid: NYS License, DEA, PLIT, and AVMA/NYSVMS/VECCS dues.
  • Uniform Allowance:
    Scrubs/lab coats provided.
  • Employee Discounts:
Generous discounts on pet care for your own pets.

Shape the future of Emergency & Critical Care in the Hudson Valley.

Catskill Veterinary Services is an equal opportunity employer.
