Lieutenant - Resource Perry Correctional Institutional, Pelzer; GREENVILLE Level 3

Job Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, this position ensures the safety and security of institutional staff by patrolling grounds, monitoring activities, and responding to emergencies.
• Develops and implements crime prevention strategies, provides guidance and resources to staff.
• Collaborates with administration to address behavioral issues and training needs.
• Through proactive security assessments and mentorships this position fosters a safe, professional, and supportive work environment.

• Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
• A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience, year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
• State of South Carolina minimum requirement: a high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
