Winyah Air is looking to hire an A&P Mechanic for their location in
Georgetown, SC
. The A&P Mechanic will be responsible for performing inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft airframes, engines, and related systems to ensure airworthiness and compliance with FAA regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect airframes, engines, and components for wear, damage, or defects
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance per manufacturer and FAA guidelines
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural systems
- Remove, install, and test engines, propellers, and related components
- Complete and sign off maintenance logs and required documentation
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections
- Ensure compliance with FAA Part 43 and Part 145 regulations
- Coordinate with pilots, inspectors, and other maintenance staff
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance
EDUCATION REQUIRED:High school or equivalent
PREFERRED
- Previous experience with the Pilatus PC-12
- Possess a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airman’s Certificate.
- Possess a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Medical Certificate.
- Avionics or NDT (non-destructive testing) knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Ability to meet all FAA requirements and approval for the Director of Maintenance Designation.
- Ten (10) plus years’ experience in aviation maintenance supervisor positions.
- At least 10 current years’ experience in commercial aviation maintenance leadership.
- Possess a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Power plant (A&P) Certificate.
- Inspection Authorization (IA) license preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience maintaining turboprop aircraft
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills
- Proven background of engaging and motivating employees at all levels to maintain a cohesive team and high employee retention
QUALIFICATIONS
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent; A&P school or military aviation maintenance training preferred
- Minimum 2 years hands-on aircraft maintenance experience (varies by employer)
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights/weekends if needed
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical environment with high attention to detail.
