Overview

The data specialist provides administrative support for the TRIO‑SSS Director and Office with a special focus on collecting, updating and reporting student data. This position is grant funded through Augustana College’s TRIO SSS grant P042A200315 and is dependent on continued Department of Education funding of the college’s SSS program.

Job Duties
  • Answers phone calls, greets visitors and provides a warm welcome for students and other visitors to the TRIO‑SSS area.
  • Collect necessary information from student applications, complete forms related to eligibility and selection.
  • Manage the gathering, updating and maintenance for student files and student applications.
  • Perform data entry of all information into the TRIO database, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of needed information for reporting purposes.
  • Provide reports as needed to the Program Director and others on a regular basis in a format needed for grant reporting.
  • Assists in recruitment, orientation and coordination of students into TRIO‑SSS programs.
  • Create and maintain systems for recording participation in conferences, field trips and workshops. Ensure that accurate records are added on a timely basis.
  • Assist members of the TRIO‑SSS team with event planning including room reservations, catering, publicity, materials and other needs.
  • Create and maintain tracking mechanisms for a variety of progress points for participating students.
  • Oversees student workers as needed, providing direction and support as necessary. Assigns projects, creates schedules, communicates expectations and provides administrative support for student workers as needed. Oversees time tracking and approves time for student workers.
  • Maintains and reports on departmental budget concern, expenses and grants. Reconciles P‑card accounts as assigned and updates budget and other expense spreadsheets.
  • Order needed supplies, enter work orders, and resolve issues with custodial or other facilities staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
  • Two or more years of demonstrated experience providing administrative support and data reporting. Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, intermediate Excel skills and ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, prioritize work, and meet deadlines with a high degree of detail orientation and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of colleagues, faculty members, and students.
Education

Associate’s degree required.

Pay and Benefits
