** Senior Mechanical Engineer | Rock Island, IL
** IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Rock Island, IL, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate-to-complex projects. In this role, you’ll partner with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client-focused advice, supporting code-compliant mechanical system design and implementation oversight for vertical building projects (HVAC focus). You will also support budget accountability, mentoring and training efforts, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations.
** Principal Responsibilities
*** Lead mechanical design efforts for HVAC (and related) systems, producing detailed designs, specifications, and calculations aligned with codes and IMEG standards
* Perform site assessments and develop technical analyses and reports to support design decisions
* Partner directly with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build and maintain client relationships
* Conduct in-process design reviews (design, calculations, specifications, and correspondence) and implement IMEG quality control processes
* Provide technical training and mentoring, and support resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff
* Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation within IMEG
* Prioritize safety in all engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
* Participate in project interviews and project presentations
** Required Qualifications and Skills
*** Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
* Professional Engineer (PE) License required
* 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
* Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
* Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
* Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
* Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
* Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
* Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays    This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
