POSITION:
Mechanical/Applications Engineer
An award-winning leader in the industrial machinery and equipment manufacturing industry is seeking someone with a rare combination of skills to join our work family:
We are looking to immediately hire the right Mechanical/Applications Engineer (in the industrial automation & positioning equipment sector).
- Product Design:
Engineer custom heavy-duty positioning equipment, weld fixtures, and automation systems. - Development: 3D models, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings using CAD software.
- Analysis:
Review customer prints to determine optimal positioning, lifting, and rotation solutions. - Structural sizing and component selection:
Bearings, gearboxes, motors, drives - Documentation:
Create bills of materials (BOMs) and support documentation for manufacturing. - Collaboration with teams:
Work closely with fabrication, machining, and assembly teams to ensure manufacturability. - Customer relations:
Participate in customer discussions to define application requirements and provide technical support for installation and start-up as needed. - Oversight:
Support each project lifecycle from concept through build, test, and installation. Also assist teamwith integration of motors, drives, PLCs, and control components. - Quality Control:
Troubleshoot mechanical and system issues during assembly and testing, and support continuous improvement initiatives for cost, safety, quality, and standardization. - Occasional Travel: 10-20%
- Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering - Experience:
3+ years in mechanical design, industrial equipment, or automation including but not limited to: weldments and structural steel assemblies. - Software
Skills:
Proficiency with industry-standard 3D CAD software. (e.g. Solid Works, Inventor, or similar) - Manufacturing Knowledge: motors, gearboxes, bearings, and power transmission components.
- Soft Skills:
Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications and excellent problem-solving skills with a "hands-on" mindset.
- Highly competitive salary and profit-sharing. $100-$120,000
