OverviewServes as the principal coordinator for large-scale campus events. Ensures the events are organized and technical support, including sound, lighting, and seating is provided as needed. Works collaboratively with other campus constituents and will undertake varying roles as dictated by shows and rehearsal requirements. Assists in the safe operation and maintenance of the sound, lighting, rigging and related equipment and systems, used in support of a variety of productions, concerts and other events.
Oversees and engages students in the work, ensuring high quality learning outcomes for student workers.
- Manages Department of Music on-campus performances and activities, holiday performances, visiting guest artists and faculty recitals, as well as student recitals, performances and rehearsals. Collaborates with co-workers to ensure a high quality experience.
- Manages campus events set‑ups for a variety of events, to include Symposium Day, Homecoming, Graduation, as well as off‑campus renters.
- Plan, organize and implement the maintenance and operation of performance‑related equipment at various campus venues including lights and lighting, sound equipment, microphone, special effect equipment and other technical systems used during events, performances and rehearsals.
- Program sound equipment, lighting equipment and other technical systems in advance of performance and productions. Troubleshoot and resolve problems with production equipment.
- Monitor the conditions of equipment including lighting, sound and rigging equipment, notifying supervisors or others involved of the need to repair or replace equipment.
- Serve as a technical representative for groups using the facilities including in‑person and virtual events.
- Interfaces with vendors and freelance/union workers.
- Assist in the set‑up and installation of seating, sets and props as needed.
- Provides some support to ticket office manager and members of Communication and Marketing in arts communication, public relations and media relations efforts.
- Manages setup and oversight of live streaming of select campus events.
- Handles other duties as assigned.
- Supervise designated student workers. Train and provide feedback on work performance. Oversee operations to ensure safety practices and procedures are followed.
- Sound knowledge of operations characteristics and techniques used in lighting, sound and rigging equipment.
- Working knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and tools used in technical operations.
- Basic understanding of sound engineering and working knowledge of digital sound equipment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of campus constituents, including student workers.
B.A. in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience1-3 years of demonstrated experience in event management. Professional experience in media relations or events management preferred.

Work EnvironmentOffice, theatre and stage environment will have exposure to noise, dust and electrical energy.
