IMEG, a leading design consulting firm, seeks a strategic and results‑driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to guide financial performance and support the firm’s growth strategy. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will be a key partner on the executive team, shaping long‑term planning, investment decisions, and board relationships.

Location

Rock Island, IL office (or a nearby IMEG office) – the role requires executive presence and collaboration across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, shaping long‑range planning, growth initiatives, and organizational strategy.
  • Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Provide forward‑looking financial insights and analysis to support executive and board decision‑making.
  • Strengthen the credibility and influence of the finance function through timely, accurate, and actionable reporting.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor organizational performance through KPIs, dashboards, and financial metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
  • Lead financial due diligence and analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Optimize cash flow, working capital, and capital structure to support scalable growth.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate exposure and enhance performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external partners, including banking institutions, auditors, tax advisors, and valuation experts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, and applicable financial and regulatory standards.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high‑performing finance team, fostering accountability, transparency, and continuous growth.
  • Evaluate and evolve the finance organization structure to support business needs and future scalability.
  • Champion change leadership and process improvement across the organization.
Qualifications
  • Advanced expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Executive presence with strong interpersonal and public‑speaking skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and proven ability to operate as a trusted business partner.
  • Deep knowledge of risk management, internal controls, and financial governance.
  • Demonstrated success in budget development, cost management, and operational efficiency.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage executive leadership and board stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership capability with a focus on talent development and team performance.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and business ethics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including occasional overnight stays.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience serving as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), including significant experience in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience with in the engineering consulting industry preferred.
  • Requirement for significant stock ownership to align with long‑term organizational success (details provided during the process).

Salary range for Illinois‑based candidates: $200,000–$275,000, with adjustments for other geographic markets. Pay will be based on location, experience, skills, and performance. Successful candidates may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
