Strategic Planner

The positions on this contract are located both CONUS and OCONUS in support of Army Sustainment Command (ASC).

This position is contingent upon the ability to maintain/transfer a DoD TS/SCI security clearance.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist with providing ASC the visibility at TS/SCI level events.
  • Assist in the preparation and development of staff estimates, courses of action, Operations Orders (OPORDs) Fragmentary Orders (FRAGORDs), and Warning Orders (WARNORDs) related to the Combatant Commanders (COCOMs), joint service component commands, HQ Department of the Army (HQDA), and Army Materiel Command (AMC) plans and orders.
  • Assist with analysis and evaluation of ASC's role and mission within the Army.
  • Assist with conducting mid and long-range planning.
  • Assist with implementation of action plans.
  • Assist with developing staff estimates and courses of action which support COCOM commander's theater strategy, campaign plans, OPLANS (Level I – Level IV), and OPORDS.
  • Develop detailed sustainment concepts at the 3- and 4-star level commands.
  • Relate concepts into detailed executable plans and create Time Phased Force Deployment Data to support mobilization of sustainment assets.
  • Collaborate with the AFSB on regional and worldwide plans.
  • Provide assistance with preparing briefings and special studies.
  • Maintain operations and plans files in a format/location accessible to ASC.
  • Monitor and track changing requirements.
  • Review and perform gap analysis for OPLANs and CONPLANs.
  • May be required to travel to remote locations and provide detailed analysis/estimates for emerging mission requirements (e.g. site surveys).

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An active DoD Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) security clearance.
  • US Citizenship.
  • A Bachelor's degree plus 10 years experience working in support of a Joint, U.S. Army, or component level headquarters.
  • OR an Associate's degree and 12 years experience working in support of a Joint, U.S. Army, or component level headquarters.
  • OR a High School Diploma and 14 years experience working in support of a Joint, U.S. Army, or component level headquarters.
  • Graduate of either the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) or Joint Informational Operational Planners Course (JIPOC) are preferred; however not mandatory.
  • Should be graduates of military Intermediate Level Education (MEL4) program, the Support Operations Course (Phase
    2), and have logistics experience in deployment/combat in a support operations position.
  • Possess a functional understanding of the Joint Operation Planning Process (JOPP).
  • Broad knowledge of the Army sustainment enterprise at the Department of the Army and how it relates to other procuring headquarters, USTRANSCOM, and other ASCC headquarters is required to ensure strategic lines of communication are nested with current capabilities to enlist support across a wide array of sustainment organizations.
  • Should have recent experience working at the one star or higher level command.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint at the intermediate level.
  • The ability to travel up to 10%.
