Overview
SQL DBA — Onsite
We are seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join a growing engineering team. The candidate will design, develop and implement database solutions that store, organize, and manage data. The SQL DBA will ensure systems perform efficiently, data is stored securely and available, and access is controlled.
Responsibilities- Perform essential DBA functions for supported databases (SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2). Provide SQL Server support.
- Manage and implement data schemas, tables, procedures, and permissions.
- Collaborate with team to provide technical guidance during development phases; coordinate with vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies.
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of databases and related systems.
- Provide normal and emergency production support; coordinate with user departments and other support staff to resolve issues.
- Document database processing procedures, runbooks, system documentation, training materials, and usage statistics.
- Research, analyze and recommend database software and related tools.
- Develop security strategies for database environments and assist in disaster recovery when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience operating major database systems (MS-SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and/or DB2) in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency coding in SQL, Python, Perl, shell, or other high-level languages.
- Knowledge of database tuning, capacity management, and resource forecasting.
- Experience with Linux or Unix.
- Experience with big data (many terabytes) is an asset.
- General knowledge of database theory, disaster recovery, database security, database design, capacity planning, performance analysis, and change management.
- Ability to find unusual solutions to unusual problems.
- Onsite 5x per week — hybrid position in Rock Island, IL.
- Team of 2 SQL DBAs;
Monday–Friday;
Saturdays and Sundays off; 1st shift hours;
Federal holidays off.

March 23, 2026 - Interviews:
January 26–February 16 - 2-Step interview process: virtual with HR/Team Lead (1st step) and onsite technical with Team (2nd step).
- Drug test and background check required.
- CompTIA Security+ certification required; certification reimbursement available if passed; role may interview without certification.
- Interim Secret Clearance, financed by agency, with no out-of-pocket cost.
This is a permanent position based out of Rock Island, IL.
Pay & Benefits- Pay range: $75,000/year.
- PTO policy for executives is unlimited.
