Seasonal Sports Facilities Maintenance

Prepare and maintain sports facilities, fields and landscapes to the highest level of quality and precision for use by a variety of people and organizations. Hires will develop the skills to perform all tasks to exceed the expectations of visitors and customers with minimal supervision. All staff will have the opportunity to work with peers, supervisors, and recreation staff.

• Drag and chalk ball fields in preparation of games and tournaments.
• Plant, maintain, rehabilitate, and construct landscape areas and features.
• Use push, self-propelled, and riding mowers, string trimmers, and backpack blowers.
• Collect and remove litter and trash from parks.
• Clean and replenish public bathrooms.
• Prepare facilities before special events and maintain throughout the event.
• Paint equipment and structures.
• Drive pick up trucks, UTV, mowers, tractors, field groomers, and dump truck.
• Install new plantings and remove old ones; use augers, post-hole diggers, shovels and rakes.
• Assist with clearing storm damage.
• Be personable and responsive with the public.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
• Applicants must be a minimum age of 16 years by the date they begin work.
• Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license to become and remain employed.
• All applicants are required to pass a background check before hire. Substance screenings are required of all applicants who were not employed the previous year.
• The Seasonal Staff will work a period between March and October. No Seasonal staff works between November and February.
• Employees will be hired on the basis of experience, availability, and in-person interview.
• Ability to operate and use hand and power tools normally associated with maintenance work.
• Ability to operate tractors, mowers, UTVs, tillers, walk-behind mowers, trucks, and groomers.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written English instructions.
• Ability to perform assigned tasks in a variety of weather conditions.
• Operate and use hand and power tools normally associated with maintenance work. This work requires the ability to tolerate extremes of weather and conditions commonly found working in the outdoors. The successful applicant will perform frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and squatting. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly. Depth perception is required.
