Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Rock Island, IL.
Impact & Responsibilities- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
- Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
- Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
- Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
- Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources
- Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level
- Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts
- Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
ExperienceMinimal level of work shop experience required
Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Requires significant and/or in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training.
Positive attitude and motivated with excellent communication skills
Participates in scheduled meetings with branch and project management team to ensure alignment, maintain consistent communication, and ensure customer needs are met.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, and consistently deliver projects according to a predetermined schedule.
Work closely with branches during training and continue constant communication after.
Required to work from the local branch.
Overtime may be necessary based on business demand.
ScheduleThe regular schedule for this position will be 8:00am to 4:30pm Mon-Fri. This schedule is subject to change based on business needs. Overtime dependent on business needs. Possible weekend callout and overnight.
Additional Requirements- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). years driving experience
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
- Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
Notes:
Need to be willing to go for EV, PG, and CNG certification. CDL not required but would be helpful.
