Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Rock Island, Illinois – offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Compensation- Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Schedule:
Sunday – Thursday - Hours:
Second shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification, Post‑Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including
- Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Conduct standard vehicle maintenance
- Conduct component inspections and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations (including Service Island support)
