The purpose of an English/Reading/Language Arts teacher is to provide the highest quality instruction through strategies, materials, and assistance to those students at greatest risk of not achieving the District #1 Essential Learnings. The purpose of a English/Reading/Language Arts teacher's job is to teach students how to read, write, problem solve, seek information, work cooperatively with others, and meet all Early Literacy Initiative curriculum objectives.

Job Functions:

Essential Functions:

1. Diagnoses, instructs, and evaluates specific students' needs and seeks assistance of classroom teachers or other specialists

as needed.

2. Plans and implements a program of instruction that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities within the Sweetwater County School District Early Literacy Initiative.

3. Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement curriculum objectives and goals.

4. Writes daily lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated to curriculum objectives.

5. Determines program eligibility through diagnosis and evaluation of specific student needs.

6. Monitors and assesses student progress and provides feedback on a regular basis to teachers, students, and parents/guardians.

7. Communicates aims/objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner in clear, concise terms.

8. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students.

9. Follows the Early Literacy Initiative rules and regulations.

10. Assists administration in implementing all policies, regulations, and rules of Sweetwater County School District Number One.

11. Promotes and follows adopted Sweetwater County School District Number One philosophy, policies, and administrative procedures.

12. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, parents, students, and community in a positive manner.

13. Assumes legal responsibilities for supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities.

14. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

15. Assumes individual responsibilities assigned by the principal/supervisor which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning of any professional assignments.

16. Maintains accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by Early Literacy law, Sweetwater County School District Number One policy, and administrative regulation.

17. Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

18. Conducts oneself in a business-like and task-oriented manner.

19. Designs and implements parent involvement programs in accordance with Early Literacy Initiative guidelines.

Other Functions:

1. Attends building staff meetings, Early Literacy meetings, and district meetings.

2. Remains informed of new techniques and current research.

3. Completes reports in a timely manner.

4. Discusses student progress at parent conferences and requested meetings.

- Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Mental Ability:

Must possess broad knowledge of pedagogy and learning theory with expertise in area(s) of certification.

Must possess knowledge of group dynamics and interpersonal skills.

Must possess knowledge of psychological, emotional, educational, and behavioral development of children.

Must possess classroom management skills which include discipline as well as record keeping and assessment ability.

Must possess technological and computer skills.

Must possess problem solving, flexibility, imagination, patience, reasoning, creativity, judgment, and analytical abilities.

Education, License, Certification or Formal Training:

Proper certification issued by the Wyoming Department of Education.

A minimum of a bachelor's degree, awarded from an accredited college or university.

Continue to pursue graduate level classes for professional growth.

Equipment Used:

* Learning Management Systems (LMS) Usage - Ability to navigate and utilize digital learning platforms.

* Classroom Technology Integration - Knowledge of interactive whiteboards, projectors, and student devices.

* Online Assessment Tools - Experience creating and managing digital quizzes, tests, and evaluations.

* Virtual and Hybrid Teaching - Proficiency in video conferencing and remote learning platforms.

* Educational Data Analysis - Ability to interpret student performance data to guide instruction.

* Digital Collaboration Tools - Experience using shared documents, discussion boards, and communication apps.

* Basic Troubleshooting - Ability to resolve minor technical issues with classroom technology.
