Job Description Summary

The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide quality instruction to WWCC students enrolled in classes taught at the main campus in Rock Springs, or at an outreach center or high school in the Western Wyoming Community College district. Teaching a course over the Internet and/or teaching an evening course is also a common expectation. This individual must be able to relate to a wide variety of students in the community college environment.

This individual’s responsibilities will include teaching courses in Personal Health and Nutrition.

It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner, and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual must follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.

Primary

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses which may include Personal Health and Nutrition.

2. States clear objectives and criteria in each course syllabus; follows the Curriculum Committee’s guidelines regarding course syllabi; integrates appropriate WWCC Goals for Student Success into each course; evaluates students’ performance in light of these objectives and criteria.

3. Teaches courses in a variety of environments and modes as required. Courses may be offered in the fall, spring or summer semesters and on varying schedules (i.e., 8- or 16-weeks), and may meet during the day, evening, weekend, or online in Rock Springs or at one of WWCC’s outreach centers.

4. Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement in attaining the College’s Learning Goals.

5. Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, including the e‑mail and calendar system, and Canvas; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate.

6. Refers students to the resources in the College Learning Center, Peer Tutor Center, Math Advancement Center, Net Tutor, Wellbeing and Accessibility.

7. Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies in assigned areas; takes prudent efforts to safeguard WWCC physical resources from unauthorized use. Maintains safe working conditions and practices.

8. Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master of Science degree in Nutrition or related field.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices in personal health and nutrition.

3. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators.

4. Able to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student‑teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.

5. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

6. Demonstrate use of effective online teaching techniques.

7. Provides evidence of continued professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Registered Dietitian.

2. Demonstrated teaching excellence at a community college.
