  • Daily Rate $350/contract day
  • 40+ hours per week
    - Employed through SCSD1
  • Eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance through SDSD1
  • Eligible for SCSD1 paid leave of5 days sick leave and 1.5 dayspersonal leave per semester
Nature and Scope of Job

Thelong-term substituteis responsible to teach students to read, write, problem solve, compute, how to find information, how to think, how to work cooperatively with others, and to meet all district-required curriculum objectives for an unfilled teaching position.

Job Functions Essential Functions
  • Plans and implements a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities within the curriculum.
  • Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement curriculum objectives and goals.
  • Writes weekly lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated to curriculum objectives.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress and provides feedback on a regular basis to students and parents/guardians.
  • Diagnoses, instructs, and evaluates specific students' needs and seeks assistance of specialists as needed.
  • Communicates aims/objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner in clear, concise terms.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students.
  • Assists administration in implementing all policies, regulations, and rules of Sweetwater County School District Number One.
  • Creates educational experiences to provide students with opportunities to develop potential in self-esteem, personal-socialadjustment, decision making, and other life skills.
  • Promotes and follows adopted Sweetwater County School District Number One philosophy and polices and administrative procedures.
  • Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, parents, students, and community in a positive manner.
  • Assumes legal responsibilities for supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Assumes individual responsibilities assigned by the principal/supervisor which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning and professional assignments.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, Sweetwater County School District Number One policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Conducts oneself in a business-like and task-oriented manner.
  • Strives to be a good employee as well as an effective teacher.
  • Maintains equipment and lab materials in a safe and orderly fashion.
  • Instructs all students in the safe operation of all equipment and watches that students use the equipment in a correct and safe manner.
  • Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and scheduled to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Attends Parent Teacher Conferences, PLC Meetings and Professional Development classes as scheduled.
  • Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
