A growing organization in the Rockford area is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role will focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, with an emphasis on accuracy, organization, and maintaining strong vendor and customer relationships. This position offers a flexible hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities- Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Perform 3-way match (purchase order, invoice, and receiving documentation) to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments
- Code and enter invoices, ensure proper approvals, and execute payments via check, ACH, or wire
- Apply customer payments, monitor AR aging, and assist with collections as needed
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subledger accounts
, including AP and AR accounts - Perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis
- Assist with month-end close activities
, including journal entries and reporting support - Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
- Support audit requests and provide documentation to external auditors
- 2+ years of experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
- Experience with 3-way match strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and processes
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (ERP experience preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
