Position: Safety Coordinator [HR-14905]

Shirley Parsons is partnering with a leading construction organization to identify a Site Safety Representative to support a large-scale distribution center construction project in the Chicago area. This individual will provide on-site safety leadership, partner with project teams to promote a proactive safety culture, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements.

  • Location: Chicago, IL
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Estimated End Date: July 2027
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily on-site safety support for active construction operations.
  • Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations, audits, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Lead new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training.
  • Promote compliance with OSHA regulations, company standards, and project safety requirements.
  • Review subcontractor safety plans and monitor contractor safety performance throughout the project.
  • Support incident investigations, identify root causes, and help implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection reports, and compliance records.
  • Partner with project management and field teams to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including fall protection, confined space entry, crane operations, electrical work, and material handling.
  • Support emergency response planning, site drills, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
  • Track safety performance metrics and communicate findings to project leadership.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction safety experience
    , preferably supporting distribution center, industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or mission-critical construction projects
    .
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • CHST or other BCSP certification preferred.
  • Experience working alongside general contractors and subcontractors on active construction projects.
  • Union construction experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
