Our Material Handling group is seeking a full‑time Service Dispatcher for our Montgomery, IL branch. This position is first shift, Monday to Friday. The expected hourly pay for this role ranges between $20–$26/hr based on overall candidate experience.
Responsibilities- Dispatch Technicians to handle service requests and preventive maintenance (PM)
- Take, record and prioritize customer calls for service requests
- Compile and complete customer summary invoicing
- Organize and file paperwork for the department
- Answer internal and customer service calls
- Weekly payroll time card entry
- Open and close work orders, including accurately recording story lines into each order
- Run and monitor PMs throughout the month
- Track PM reports and audit completed work for weekly meetings
- Schedule PMs for technicians
- Assist dispatching by assigning technicians with the correct skill set to customers (WIP assistance)
- Monitor and assign fleet service calls
- Monitor fleetmatics to ensure technicians are on time at field accounts
- Generate various reports (PMs completed, overtime, non‑productive clocking, first start tracking, tracker audits)
- Help technicians find technical data
- Apply Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous dispatching, warranty administrative or mechanic experience is highly preferred
- Strong technical knowledge base to answer technician questions
- Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; ERP experience is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to communicate with all levels of coworkers and customers
- Intermediate reading, writing and speaking proficiency for technical documents
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic money and measurement conversions)
- Basic reasoning ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and handle simple problems
- Regularly use sit, hand, talk/hear; frequently reach; occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste/smell
- No special vision requirements
- Regularly lift up to 10 pounds; frequently up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
