Job Description
Platt Hill Nursery is a family-owned business with locations in Carpentersville, Bloomingdale, and Rockford (coming soon). Platt Hill Nursery is passionate about creating a collaborative team environment where individual contributions are celebrated. We aim to utilize each individual’s expert knowledge and skills to find the right landscape design and plants for each customer’s space.
We are currently seeking a talented Landscape Designer with experience to join our Carpentersville location. In this role, you will be meeting with clients and potential clients, designing outdoor spaces, and managing projects from beginning to end. This includes overseeing crews and construction, as well as ensuring staff observe safety guidelines and protocols. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying new opportunities and addressing potential challenges, possess excellent customer service and sales skills, and be an accomplished designer.
ProjectResponsibilities
- Full project management from initial client meeting through completion.
- Securing leads and following through using excellent customer service and sales skills.
- Oversee construction of outdoor spaces, hardscaping, and softscape.
- Instruct and oversee crew members to ensure the job is completed properly.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and plant materials are available for each project.
- Meet with the crew each morning to discuss schedules and projects for the day.
- Budget management and client invoicing.
- Perform a mix of office work for design and site visits outdoors, requiring physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Professional experience with concept and design development.
- Minimum 2-year associate’s degree in Landscape Design. 4-year degree in Landscape Architecture or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years sales experience.
- Knowledge of appropriate plant and hardscape materials for our region.
- Proficiency in Dynascape or similar landscape design software.
- General knowledge of village codes and permitting processes and requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to estimate jobs and write proposals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs and project management software.
Experience with Manage
360 a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Have a positive, can-do attitude and ability to work within a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to build rapport and nurture ongoing relationships with clients.
- Value accountability across the board and take ownership of issues from start to finish.
- Excellent follow-through is a must.
- Attention to detail.
- Organized and excellent record keeping skills.
- Ability to be flexible in order to meet changing business needs.
- Logical and creative problem-solving skills.
