PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Director of Elementary Curriculum provides leadership at the district level in aligning development, revision, and review of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to support district initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
* Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
* Manages continuous improvement processes with school-based personnel toward guaranteed and viable curricula and balanced assessment practices for foundational literacy, integrated literacy, mathematics, fine arts, and physical education instruction across all elementary schools.
* Monitors vertical and horizontal alignment of guaranteed and viable curricula, implementation of instructional shifts, and balanced assessment practices across all elementary schools.
* Leads and develops leadership of any assigned Teachers on Special Assignment to create opportunities for targeted support, peer collaboration, and continuous improvement related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
* Collaborates with the Director of Instruction to provide implementation support and professional learning for Instructional Coaches across all elementary schools.
* Manages data collection and analysis of elementary instructional Standards of Practice within the district's Systemwide Framework.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Current professional educator license, with administrative endorsement preferred.
* Completion of Illinois Performance Evaluation - Teacher Evaluation Training within 90 days of hire date.
* Previous demonstration of successful teacher experience.
* Previous demonstration of successful school leadership experience.
* Previous demonstration of successful school administration experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Proficiency in a variety of research-based instructional techniques and programs.
* Ability to effectively facilitate groups and work with adult learners.
* Proficiency in the administration and analysis of assessments and use of data to guide instructional practice and intervention.

WORK CALENDAR: 12 Months
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
